New Port bunkering vessel "Esso 8", launched.
A new port bunkeringsvessel M.T. "Esso 8" as Norwegian Esso has contracted at Elvestad Workshop, Skien, was launched on Monday 16 September. The vessel was christened by Grete Jacobsen, wife of Norwegian Esso sales manager in Buskerud, Vestfold, Telemark and Aust-Agder and West counties, Vincent Jacobsen. Present at the ceremony were representatives of Skiens port authorities and customs services, Ship Control andthe NOFSke Veritas as well as numerous representatives of ALS Norwegian Esso Transport Department and Sales departments. The vessel is now put into service as sales vessel for reseller on Alesund outer and inner harbor and the surrounding area has the following dimensions: Length 20.15 m, breadth the 5.20 m and depth molded 2.45 m. The boat's cargo capacity is approximately 80 tonnes of oil in 4 tanks, 16 tons of fresh water divided between 2 tanks and 4 barrels of lubricating oil divided thoughts in a special tanks.
The boat's main engine is a Volvo Penta type TMD 100 A which develops 240 hp.
The vessel is equipped with a controllable pitch propellers of type Ulstein E.O. 31. Further, "Esso 8" equipped with a hydraulic
control machine, a Pyro oil-fired boiler and vessel has 1 Houtuin discharge pump of type 2 D. 112/68 HO.
M.T. "Esso 8" is the fifth in the series of new harbor bunkering boats the company has built over recent years.
