Esso Slagen - (1968-1995)
1968 Built as motor tanker ESSO SLAGEN by Lindholmens Verft, Gothenburg for A/S Norske Esso, Tønsberg Sold in 1995 and renamed "Nordic Voyager". Sold in 1996 and renamed "Novo Voyager".
Scrapped Bangladesh 2000.
Seen here at Avonmouth, Bristol, United Kingdom, date unknown.

On the bridge of the Norwegian tanker "Esso Slagen" the officers looked at four minutes past eleven on Monday, September 20th, 1971 a few kilometers ahead entering a parachute into the sea. Immediately a boat was lowered which began a rapid rescue. Only sixteen minutes later first lieutenant Eric Schollen from the North Brabant Volkel airbase, was unharmed hoisted aboard. He had lost his Starfighter shortly before 20 kilometers north of Texel and must leave the fighterplane because of engine failure. The captain indicated that he would take the pilot to Bremerhaven. At the request of the Royal Dutch Navy, however, he turned the tanker so the pilot could picked up by a helicopter and hoist him aboard, and flew the pilot to via Texel to Leeuwarden's airforce base.
