M/S Lux was an iron boat purchased from Denmark probably in the period 1913-19. It had once been a cannon boat in the Danish navy,
and had been part of the Helgolandslaget in 1864. The ship was converted into a tanker by the Danes, and probably belonged to the DDPA.
The tank capacity was 160 cubic meters divided into 3 main tanks with long ship bulkheads. The engine was a 60 HP DAN glow engine.
The ship was ØPC's first tanker stationed on Steilene, and with the Halden-Flekkefjord shipping area. During the loading of petrol on Storsteilene
10.10.1927 (loading took place over the hatches) a fire occurred in the engine room due to petrol gas that had run down there during loading.
The ship was towed out into the fjord burning and sank the middle fjord almost straight out of the Shell facility of approx. 100 m water.
No furher data known.
