S/R BAYOU STATE
Built in 1967, by Jacksonville Shipyard of Jacksonville, Florida as the Esso Garden State for Esso Shipping of Wilmington Delaware.
In 1972, Esso Shipping became Exxon Shipping of Wilmington, Delaware. And in 1973, the tug was renamed as the Exxon Garden State. Renamed in 1985 as Exxon Bayou State.
In 1988, when Exxon merged with Mobil to form SeaRiver Maritime of Houston, Texas. The tug's name was changed to S/R Bayou State.
When SeaRiver Maritime liquidated their assets. The tug was acquired by McAllister Towing and Transportation of New York, New York where she was renamed as the Charles D. McAllister.
She is powered by two Caterpillar 12-D398 Turbo main engines with Lufkin reduction gears at a ratio of 7.14:1 for a rated 1,800 horsepower.
She is a twin screw tug, fitted kort nozzles and flanking rudders.
The tug's capacities are 26,670 gallons of fuel oil, 628 gallons of Lube Oil and 3,480 gallons of potable water.
She is also outfitted with two fire monitors producing 1,500 Gallons Per Minute.
