Excelsior - (1894-1914)
Steam Tank Ship "Excelsior", RJWM
3797 BRT / 5350 TDW - 103,00 x 13,01 x 6.81 M - 1 Triple Expansion Steam Engine - 1850 IHP,
build by the yard. On April 1894 launch.
On May 1894 build by AG "Vulcan", Stettin-Bredow ( Nr. 214 ) as "Excelsior" ordered by
Deutsch-Amerikanische Petroleum Gesellschaft, Hamburg. Registered 5.5.1894.
On August 1914 laid up in the USA.
On 2.11.1914 sold to the Standard Oil Co., of New Jersey, New York. 1915 renamed "Petrolite".
On 5.12.1915 on the voyage from Alexandria to New York damaged by a U-boat.
On 10.6.1917 on the voyage from Genova to the USA, 140 miles west form Cape Spartel, Nort West Rabat, torpedoed by U-39 and sunken.
