OIL CARRIER LAUNCHED TODAY
Philadelphia, PA - Sliding into the waters of the Delaware River is the new oil carrier "Esso Philadelphia," christened today by Mrs. Gladys M. Christiansen, Newark, N.J., widow of a torpedoed tank steamer's chief engineer. Built for the Standard Oil Company of N. J. by Sun Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, the new tanker carries a modern radio receiver which eliminates tell-tale radiation that could give location to an enemy submarine.
