Esso Taparita - (1946 -  ? )
Photo and request by Marc-André Morin.
The former Royal Canadian Navy vessel Q-081 (Q-boats) became the "Esso Taparita" in 1946. Her sisters were :
Esso Ayacucho      ex Q-056
Esso Concordia      ex Q-061
Esso Cardonal        ex Q-078
These boats were acquired by Creole Petroleum Corp. Venuzuela, in 1946 from War Assets Corporation.
They were ex fairmiles of the Canadian Navy, converted to tender boats and used to bring work
crews to oil derricks at Lake Maracaibo and off the coast of Venezuela.
Any more infos will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and best regards,
Marc-André Morin.

Additional Info from Charles Loughlin:
ex Fairmile Launches, I have checked out the Lloyds registers covering that period as well as the Mercantile
Registers and there is no mention of the ships in either. The only information that I came across was their
details as they were when part of the Canadian Navy & that is a bit thin. They were classed as coastal
craft of between 80 feet & 112 feet X 17 X 4, machinery 2 X Hall-Scott internal combustion
engines of 1260 hp giving 25 knots and that was it.
Q 055 Q 056 and Q 053 being towed to Sorel.
Q 105 commissioned in September 1943.
