History
As AMOCO INDIANA: Went aground on shoals in Grand Traverse Bay on January 10, 1977, off Northport Point, north of Traverse City, MI. Vessel was freed after part of her cargo was transferred to her sister ship AMOCO WISCONSIN, and was accompanied to Traverse City by the Coast Guard cutter WESTWIND. Grounded briefly early May 1978, in heavy ice in Whitefish Bay. Freed herself and suffered no apparent damage. Spilled between 300 and 400 gallons of gasoline at the Soo after striking the lock wall on July 9, 1982. She arrived at the Bay Shipbuilding Co. on July 11, for shell repairs.
