"Pazargad", being constructed in 1969 at Rotterdam and Schiedam.
Rotterdam Drydock Company, Rotterdam, built 7/12 part of the vessel, the other 5/12 part was built at
Wilton-Feyenoord, Schiedam. Joined in Drydock at Wilton -Fenyenoord. Owner is Mobil Tankers Ltd.,
she was chartered to the Iran-Pan-American Oil Company. She left Rotterdam July 1970 in tow behind
the German tug "Artic".

"Pazargad".
The Iran Pan American Oil Company used a barge facility to provide crude oil storage for its Cyrus field,
also located in the Persian Gulf. Initially, a small 40,000 dwt tanker was placed in temporary service to
provide crude oil storage. In 1970 this tanker was replaced with "Pazargad", a 750,000 barrel barge.
"Pazargad" was designed and built by Mobil and, at the time, was the world's largest crude oil barge.
"Pazargad" is moored by a single buoy mooring system in 140 feet of water. Crude is transferred from
storage through a submarine line to an export tanker via an SPM, about a mile away. ... ...

The 2 halves were later joined together.
