April 29th, 1974. The first post-embargo oil tanker to laeve Saudi Arabia for the West Coast arrives off the Southern California coast today. The E. Hornsby Wasson is loaded with 1.5 billion barrels of Arabian crude oil for Standard Oil Co. of California refineries. It is almost five months since the last Arabian oil was delivered there after the mid-October embargo.
The cargo will be loaded into smaller coastal tankers to make the actuel deliveries.
