More photos of the ex. Samoset
Dear Mr. Visser,
I recently had the good fortune to make a trip on the Lee A.
Tregurtha, which was launched as Samoset and served as
Chiwawa (A0-68) in WWII. I just wanted to let you know that
the ship was given new engines last winter and is now driven
by Bergen diesels, which should ensure a good many more years
of service on the Great Lakes for this proud old ship.
Further details of the Lee A. Tregurtha and her new engines
can be found here:
I'm attaching some photos from this event: those of the Lee
A. Tregurtha were taken by friends on shore as we passed;
those of the American Victory were taken by me from on board
the the Lee A. Tregurtha at the Sault Ste. Marie Locks and in
Whitefish Bay.

Lee A. Tregurtha aft end passing Detou.
