Esso Mersey - (1972-1994)
"Esso Mersey", 12,323 grt, built by Cammell Laird, Birkenhead in 1972. Renamed in 1994 as "Petro Mersey".
Scrapped in 2000 in Mumbai.
Gas explosion at Fawley on 04/09/1991.
Sadly, the C/O and an A.B. died.
A pump room explosion, the force of which went up & into the cargo control room and
exited through the forward starboard door at poop deck level.
