EFFICIENCY AT SEA.
On the back copy of the Spring, 1965, issue of the Esso Magazine we showed
work being carried out on the boilers of Esso Warwicshire during the fitting of
an automatic burner control system. Here in the engineroom we see the new
air-conditioned control centre where the engineer at the console has boiler
efficiency literally at his fingertips. This system allows the fuel flow, air flow
and the firing of the burners to be regulaled automatically to achieve maximum
boiler efficiency. The equipment is complicated, but its function is simple; it
reduces the need for supervision to the minimum and releases skilled men
for more productive work.
