"Wapello" ex Clio 1913.
LOA 395 ' 6" Beam 51 ' 8 "; Depth 30 ' 6 "; 6571 DWT; 54,760 bbls
Built 1912 at Armstrong Whitworth & Company, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, as Clio. This vessel was under con-
struction at the time of the dissolution of 1911. She came to Socony eventually and was renamed WAPELLO.
Wapello made her first voyage for Socony early in 1913, and for seven successive voyages she plied the North Atlantic.
In 1915 she made one voyage to the Far East, returning in March to be commandeered for war service by the Admiralty.
On 15 June 1917 she was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel.
