Esso's new small coaster launched
The 232-foot (70.7-meter) 2,000 dwt "Esso Plymouth", which launched last June, 1980, became the newest addi-tion to the Esso Petroleum fleet.
The coastal tanker is the first British-built ship to incorporate a new method of noise absorption designed to improve the working environment of the crew.
The entire superstructure of the vessel is resiliently mounted to reduce transmission of noise and vibration from the engine room to the living and sleeping accommodations.
The vessel is capable of discharging and loading two grades of products simultaneously. It has a cargo capacity of 2680 cubic meters and can travel at speeds up to 11.75 knots. The crew will number 13.
