Launch of the "Esso Jurong".
The Esso Jurong was launched in Japan last December in a cascade of ribbons and sunshine by Mrs. J. Baldwin.
ESPL representatives at the launching included Steve Huvane, Marine Manager, and Richard Hoa, Port Engineer.
Esso Jurong is designed primarily to carry lube oil from PAC to regional ports together with sister ship Esso Tumasik. It is 107 metres long, with a maximum draft of 6.1 meters and a capacity of 5,200 deadweight tons. Its keel was first laid in early September last year and construction since then has been smooth.
Remaining work on the vessel's superstructure and machinery will continue until delivery around end-February of this year.
Esso Jurong is incorporated with a wide range of sophisticated equipment to facilitate safe navigation, and engine room
and cargo operations equipment are designed with emphasis on safety, as well as fuel and environmental conservation.
It belongs to ESPL. — Charlie Han.
