Ordered as "Mobil Valiant", but renamed while under construction, as "Matco Thames", was build in 1975, 89,531 DWT.Scrapped in 2002. See info at the bottom.
Matco Thames
LOA 808 ' 9 ", Beam 129 ' 11 ", Draught 44' 4 ", 87,986 SDWT
Built 1975 by Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Company Limited, Numakuma, Japan, the vessel was purchased "on the ways"
and delivered to Mobil Shipping and Transportation Company as a conventional tanker. Powered by a Sulzer
3RND90 engine developing 23,000HP, the vessel was converted immediately after delivery for use in the Beryl
field as a North Sea shuttle tanker.
she has a bow thruster, variable pitch propeller and dedicated tanks allocated as permanent ballast spaces. She
was sold to the Heencees of the Jeryl field in February 1976 and entered service in 1976. Now jointly owned by
Mobil Shipping Company Limited, Amerada Hess Limited, Enterprise Oil pic, BG North Sea Holdings Limited
and OMV (UK) Limited. Scrapped in 2002.
