"Flinders" was build as "Mobil Flinders" in 1982, renamed in 1992 as "Flinders". Sold in 2003 as "Navarino".

Former Captian John Spooner, from Australia, wrote :
For some time I have been looking for information on what happened to the 150,000dwt "Mobil Flinders", built in 1982 &
operated by Mobil Australia, later named "Flinders". From your site I now see she was scraped in 2003.
I joined "Mobil Flinders" as master at Falmouth anchorage in Oct.1990, where she was doing turbo charger repairs,
enroute to Fos France from Norway. She was on time charter to Exxon from new until 1991 & mainly traded in the Med.
with full Australian crew & management. [Union pressure on Mobil to build a crude carrier]
After "Exxon Valdez" returned to service as "Exxon Mediterranean", Exxon gave her the work we were doing & finished the
time charter on "Mobil Flinders" We then tramped for Mobil Fairfax USA with more interesting & longer runs, but ended
up doing mainly P.Gulf to Trieste.
To correct your site info - she did her 10 year docking in Bahrain in June 1992 and this is when the name was changed
to "Flinders".
I left the ship later in 1992 - she ended her days running from Caribbean to US East Coast.
