The second "Sylvan Arrow", 31,165 dwt - British flag, owned by Mobil Shipping Co. Ltd.,
and build in 1955 by Nederlandse Droogdok & Scheepsbouw Mij., Amsterdam.
Sold in 1971 as "Kola', resold in 1972 as "Rolle". Scrapped in 1975 in Valencia, Spain.
Sylvan Arrow
LOA 660' Beam 86'4" Draught 34'2"1/2" 33,007 SDWT
Built 1955 by Nederland Dockyard, Amsterdam, Holland, for Rispond Tankers of Edinburgh. She was purchased “on the stocks” and owned by Mobil Shipping Company Limited, London. The vessel was powered by a Pametrada turbine developing 13,75O HP.
When SYLVAN ARROW was launched, an, arrow was presented by the Sylvan Archers, descendants of Robin Hood’s Sherwood Forest band. This British custom of ship tokens harks back to the Crusades and before, when the token was most likely to be a Christian shrine located at the break of the poop.
