"Tasso" (built 1962).
"Tasso" - LOA 742 ' 7 "; Beam 104 ' 3 "; Draught 39 '; 44,995 DWT
Built 1962 by Bremer Vulkan, Bremen, Germany, powered by a Brown Boveri turbine developing 18,000HP. The Tasso is
sister ship to Mobil Valiant, Mobil Vanguard and Mobil Vigilant. Initially, this class of vessel experienced major problems with
the main gearing. The source of the problem was located on Tasso in 1966 and the LP primary wheel end plates on the entire
class were reinforced. This solved the problem and the engines operated satisfactorily. Tasso was delivered to breakers at
Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in August 1981.
