"Yarraville" was build in 1928 for Vacuum Oil Co., Ltd., London.
Transferred in 1933 to the Standard Transportation Co., Ltd., Hong Kong.
Torpedoed and sunk 39.40 N / 11.34 W on 21.06.1940 (5 dead).
The Socony-Vacuum tanker "Yarraville", yesterday (April 5 th ), rescued 16 passengers
from the burning Norwegian steamer "Tricolor" in the Pacific Ocean, 1,00 miles East of
Yokohama. The transfer of the passengers was made in heavy seas without mishap.
The "Yarraville" is proceeding toward its home port, San Pedro, California, where it is
due on April 18.
The "Tricolor" suffered from an fire near Rangoon on 28 February 1956 and was  beached on
Liffey Sands 29 February.1956.

LINER ON FIRE.

S.O.S. 1,000 Miles From Yokohama. BRITISH FREIGHTER, STANDING BY.
San Francisco, Apr. 5 - 1936.
The Norwegian motorsship, Tricolor (6,850 tons), en route for San Francisco from the Philippines with 16 passengers and 40 crew sent out an S.O.S. tonight:
"DANGEROUS FIRE IN HOLD".
The Tricolor is about 1,000 miles east of Yokohama and is racing to meet the British freighter Yarraville (8 627 tons) reported to be inthe vicinity.
Eight Women Aboard.
The Tricolor's passengers Include eight women and five children.
The Yarraville, proceeding from Dairen to California,is now standing by but the darkness and heavy seas have so far prevented transfer of the passengers.
Meanwhile, the fire on Triculor Is increasing.
Hong Kong Passengers.
A Shanghai message says that the Tricolor carries two Shanghai and four Hong Kong passengers, including Mr. L.R. Andrewes. Deputy registrar of the Hong Kong Supreme Court and his wife, and Mr. Clark Alkinson. of Kowloon docks.
