Launched 5 February and commissioned 8 April 1921 at Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation, Sparrows Point, Maryland, coastal service, after which she entered foreign service and literally roamed the world. In 1925 she became a homebody and helped deepen the tanker groove between the Gulf of Mexico and the New England market. She was badly damaged at Providence, Rhode Island, during the infamous hurricane of 1938, and in December of that year was sold to Northern Metals Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for her value in steel.
