Built November 1944 by Welding Shipyards, Norfolk, VA,
as "Phoenix" # 2693, for National Bulk Carriers, Inc.
Collided with s/tank PAN-MASSACHUSETTS, 6 June 1953, in the Delaware River off Delaware City,
voyage Philadelphia - Houston, in ballast, heavily damaged by explosions and fire, beached, CTL, stern
section refloated and towed in August 1954 to Fieldsbro', N.J. for scrapping by North American
Smelting Co.
